Abi and Kevin Webster (Sally Carman and Michael Le Vell) have had their fair share of trauma this year in Coronation Street, and it is starting to take a toll on their relationship.
At the beginning of the year, Abi was left traumatised when she found Mason Radcliffe bleeding from a stab wound in the precinct, and his death led to her suffering from PTSD.
Amid Abi’s mental health crisis, Kevin was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and underwent surgery to remove it.
In tonight’s episode, he had his first chemotherapy session, and Abi was keen to make the process as comfortable for him as possible.
However, when Abi received a call asking her to pick son Alfie up from nursery, Kevin assured her he’d be okay on his own. Reluctantly, Abi left him to it.
Once his treatment was over, Kevin bumped into Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh), who recently revealed her own terminal cancer diagnosis.
Up Next
Together, they discussed their diagnoses and experiences, with Kevin clearly getting a lot out of the conversation.
When Abi later found him talking to Julie in the cafe, she was clearly unhappy, pointing out how worried she’d been when he hadn’t answered his phone.
Kevin and Julie’s conversation was abruptly cut short as Abi took Kevin home, where she once again explained how worried she’d been.
It was then that Kevin expressed his disappointment at Abi’s treatment of Julie, pointing out that she hadn’t been very respectful to the dying woman.
He continued by adding that it had been nice to finally talk to someone who understood what he was going through, which left Abi somewhat hurt.
